A favorite for pickle lovers like me, it’s perfect for dipping potato chips, pretzels, or veggies.
Ingredients in Dill Pickle Dip
I love cream cheese. I love pickles. I love dip.
- This dip contains only 4 ingredients, but it has great crave-worthy flavor.
- It’s super easy to make.
- It can be made a couple of days ahead of time making it party perfect.
Cream Cheese – A key ingredient in a dill pickle dip, cream cheese provides a smooth, creamy texture and a delicious tang. It is easy to spread and is a great base for the dip.
Pickles – Dill pickles add zesty flavor and a bit of crunch. Use your favorite dill pickles or even homemade pickles.
Seasoning – A splash of extra pickle juice adds flavor, salt and helps give it the perfect consistency while fresh dill weed adds flavor.
Tips & Variations
- Variations – Mix in other seasonings like garlic powder, chopped green onions, a bit of ranch dressing mix, parsley, or capers.
- Liquid – Remember to add enough pickle juice to keep the dip smooth and avoid a chip-wreck.
- Flavor & Thickening – Allow the dip to rest in the refrigerator so the flavors can blend and it can thicken up a bit.
- Serving – We love serving this dill pickle dip recipe with potato chips. It’s also great as a dipper for fresh veggies like carrots, celery, or cucumbers.

4 Ingredient Dill Pickle Dip
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- ¼ cup pickle juice
- ¼ cup dill pickle finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, stir cream cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add pickle juice to the cream cheese, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in chopped pickles and fresh dill.
- Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Consistency: Adjust the pickle juice to reach the desired consistency. The dip will thicken slightly as it chills in the fridge.
- Pickle Juice: When scooping pickle juice from the container, try to add any of the spices and garlicky bits in the juice, they’re a great addition to the dip.
- Dill: Fresh dill adds great flavor but you can substitute 1 teaspoon of dried dill weed.

Mine came out super thick and I added 2 extra tablespoons of pickle juice any advice how to thin out
Extra pickle juice always helps but if not serving it immediately I like to let mine sit at room temperature for a bit before serving to let the cream cheese soften and then give it a good stir. If serving immediately, you can use a hand mixer to whip the cream cheese before adding the pickle juice to help soften it for dipping.
This is my current pregnancy craving but there has to be something wrong with the serving sizes. According to this, I might be eating for twelve, not two. Regardless I love how quick and easy this dip is to make. Thanks for the delicious recipe!
Always great to be able to pull something together from stuff in the fridge at the last minute. This is one of those recipes and it’s pretty tasty. I added a hint of orange zest I had hanging around and think it gave it a little shove in the right direction.
Oooh, that sounds like a delicious addition, Rose! Thanks for sharing.
Always a hit at the parties especially last night at our shelter volunteers party.
I’ve tried other recipes, with all kinds of additional stuff added, which was not necessary. THIS is THE pickle dip I will be making from now on! Its hard to stop eating, its so darn good! Thanks so much for this! :-)
You’re very welcome Lori. I LOVE it too!!
Will give it a try…Yum
Hello. I made this. Added fresh chives from my garden and instead of sour cream, I substituted Marzetti dill vegetable dip……O-M-G……so good! Thanks so much. My family loved it! We all love dill.
Oh boy, that sounds amazing Holly! Thanks for sharing.
When I was in high school (50 years ago) my mother would buy Kraft’s dill pickle dip and I would sneak it and a bag of potato chips into my bedroom and eat until the container was empty! I even remember the container – it had aa green aluminum tin bottom with a peel back lid. I have been looking for that dip for 50 years ( I’m not kidding) so when I found the recipe on this site I was/am thrilled and will be buying the ingredients today and hopefully enjoying some delicious dill pickle dip with my favorite Ruffles Potato Chips this evening!! I assume it is no longer made. But if it is, can you tell me what grocery store(s) in the greater Kansas City area carryit and I’ll be on my way there by noon! Thanks for making my day/week/month and year!!! . I’ll rate the recipe after I’ve tried it I also plan to make the other recipes on this site which all look and sound delicious. We shall se. . .
This is my all-time favorite dip and since it is so easy to make at home I enjoy it way too much! I have seen it in our local grocery store but I am not sure where you will find it specifically in Kansas, maybe another reader will be able to help with that! But in the meantime, enjoy this tasty recreation Allyn! I hope it lives up to your memories :)
I absolutely love this recipe.

We love it with potato chips or veggies.
Supper good
Made this and it’s DELICIOUS!!! Takes about 3 minutes to prepare and it was a hit! Next time I’ll triple the amounts. Mmmmmm Didn’t have fresh dill; used dried and it still tastes SCRUMPTIOUS!
I am so glad you enjoyed this recipe!
Can’t stop eating it!
Can sour cream be substituted for the cream cheese?
That should be fine!
Yummy
Just wondering if you could use a dill pickle relish as a substitute for the pickles?
That would work just fine.
Hey! I’m making this for a party, and I’m just wondering if it’ll keep well (about 24 hours) or if it needs to be eaten soon after making.
Thanks!
24 hours should be fine. Keep it refrigerated! :)
Only other thing to add is a bit of black pepper. It adds a whole not her flavor dimension. Very good.
Sounds like a great idea!
