Jalapeño Cheddar Burgers (Turkey or Beef) are so delicious and super easy to make!
These burgers are made with favorites like cheese, mushrooms, onions and jalapeño to deliver a burger that is tender and juicy!
Your family will go wild for these burgers!
I LOVE Burgers! Beef, turkey, pork… I love them all! Cheese, mushrooms, onions, jalapeño…. there is almost nothing I don’t love on burgers!
These might be my absolute favorite turkey burgers of all time!! The delicious jalapeño cheddar filling in these burgers keeps lean meat juicy and tender while adding tons of flavor! The burgers in the photo were made with turkey, but I have also done these with lean beef and they were equally delicious! They can broiled in the oven or cooked on the grill!
If you prefer, you can purchase a stuffed burger press to get perfectly uniform stuffed burgers… or you can just do them by hand. Either way, you won’t be disappointed with these delicious patties!
Jalapeno Cheddar Burgers (Turkey or Beef)
Ingredients
- 28 oz lean turkey or beef (not extra lean)
- 2 tablespoons finely minced onion
- salt & pepper to taste
- 4 tablespoons cream cheese
- 2 oz shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 fresh jalapeno pepper diced (seeds removed if you prefer less spice)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Rolls & Toppings as desired
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium or oven to broil on high.
- In a small bowl combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder and diced jalapeno.
- Combine meat, salt & pepper and minced onion. Divide meat into 4 even pieces (7oz each). Take ¼ of the cream cheese mixture and flatten it into a pancake shape. Wrap beef or turkey around the cheese ensuring the cheese mixture is completely covered. Brush each burger with a little bit of olive oil.
To Grill
- Grill burgers over medium heat for 6-7 minutes on each side or until completely cooked. (Turkey should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees and beef should reach 160°F.)
To Broil
- Place burgers on a foil covered pan approximately 6" from the broiler. Broil 5-6 minutes on each side or until completely cooked. (Turkey should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees and beef should reach 160°F.)

The description says “ These burgers are made with favorites like cheese, mushrooms, onions and jalapeño to deliver a burger that is tender and juicy!” but I don’t see mushroom in the ingredients list or directions? Where would I add the mushroom because it sounds delicious?!
Hi Sabrina, you could add finely diced mushrooms to the cheese mixture in step 2, or top your burger with them once cooked. I think either would be delicious!
My husband and I tried these for lunch based on a recommendation from my sis-in-law. She assured me I would love them even though I consider myself to be a heat sensitive wimp. She was RIGHT! I followed the recipe as is, using beef. This one is a keeper as we’ll definitely be having these again soon. Thank you for a great recipe!

Wow! Made this tonight – quite possibly THE BEST burger I’ve ever grilled. Thanks for the great recipe!
Thanks! So happy to hear that Chris.
I made these last night my husband and son said best burgers EVER! I added garlic powder, onion powder, used pickled jalapeños, and added grilled onions. Next time think I will add guacamole that sounds delish. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome. Glad they loved them Maria!
These burgers were a huge hit! Everyone went back for more. We’ll definitely be saving this recipe to do again in the future.
I am so glad you loved them Marissa!
These burgers are excellent! I topped with guacamole and homemade pico and wrapped in leaf lettuce instead of a bun or tortilla.
Yum!
Loveloveloved it So cheesy.
Yes I made this recipe today for Sunday dinner I think it’s amazing and a picture to go along with
So why specifically can you not use lean ground turkey? I’m doing Keto but need to Limit my fat intake a bit due to NAFLD.
Oh. My. God. Making these every week!!
Made these tonight. They were a hit with my family! I didn’t pinch the meat closed enough so make sure you pinch it pretty tight around the edges then round it off. I made them with beef but next time I will do a beef/turkey mix. I also added cayenne powder to the cheese mixture and a small amount of onion and chili powder to the meat. It was AWESOME. THANKS FOR THE RECIPE! any idea what the nutrient info would be?
Just made these and I think you should alter the part when you add the cheese spread to burger patty. I did two batches. One as the directions say, the result was a burger that didn’t hold together, flavor was ok but hard to tell with it falling apart. Second batch I made 8 patties and put two together over the cheese .. held together way better and the overall burger was more enjoyable.
Jared,
Thanks for sharing your method. I will try that the next time I make these!
Killer burgers! For dinner again tonight.
Awesome! Glad you liked them!
Not impressed, the cream cheese taste was overwhelming, I did remove the seeds of the jalepano but I added a second so there would still be a bit of heat……could not taste heat at all.
Love the idea and will proprobably play with it a bit.
I do love the warm oozy cheese from the center of the burger.
